What is UTI?

The Unified Testing Initiative (UTI) is a worldwide mobile industry body comprising device manufacturers, carriers and others within the mobile application market place.

It is funded by the members for the benefit of the industry.

The aim is to reduce fragmentation across the industry (and within platforms) and encourage wide-spread adoption of sound working practices to increase the quality of mobile applications.  Across all platforms.

Through their work within UTI, the members are collectively responsible for producing guidance documents such as the brand new Best Practice for Developing Quality Mobile Applications Guidelines, testing criteria such as the well-renowned Java ME Unified Testing Criteria and other informative / constructive pieces of work.  We need your input into these documents to make them work.

These deliverables are initially developed by UTI, enhanced by the developer community, endorsed, publicised and then used in practice by the UTI members and developers alike for the benefit of the industry, encouraging wide-spread adoption of the techniques outlined.

The output from UTI will sometimes be platform-agnostic and will sometimes be platform-specific depending on the need at the time.
